In the movie, Erin' s resolution for justice and her straight style of talking are demonstrated so well that her image stays in my mind for a ling time. As a divorced woman with three children and 16 dollars in her bank account, she has every reason to beg for others’ sympathy and feel discouraged. On the contrary, she struggles to pursue her dream of conducting justice even though she is lacking in professional knowledge. Against all odds, including the residents’ indifference and doubts, Ed’s opposition and even a threatening phone call, she just does the thing that she believes in.
Though there is no denying that Erin ’s behavior still leaves a lot to be desired, her resolution did stir something deep inside of me. As a saying goes, “Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t, you’re right.” Identifying with Erin ’s independence in almost everything, I’ll try to be as resolute as Erin with all my might for not everybody is fortunate enough to have someone come to his or her aid. Moreover, one of the greatest discoveries we make, one of our greatest surprises, is to find we can do what we are afraid we couldn’t do.
I have seen this movie before (because I like Julie Fiona Roberts very much. I have seen almost every movies of her.) I remember this movie of that this movie shows many details in the plot and talks about some problems a single mother might face. And it also tells people to work hard and move forward, and create a paradise for and by yourself.
ReplyDeleteI love this movie very much, as it was based on the true story which Erin Brockovich involved in the litigation against a multi-billion dollar corporation! The first time I watched it was 2008 in one of the Land Economics classes.
ReplyDeleteThe case alleged contamination of drinking water with hexavalent chromium in the southern California town of Hinkley, and I was so amazed that Brockovich was instrumental in constructing a case against the Pacific Gas and Electric Company, despite the lack of a formal law school or legal education!
